I think I'm on the home stretch here.
Conga I'll be excited when I can stand him up.
Also I like your 2 tone masks.
Shaker your close.
4wdtiki I just thought he'd stand up there all by him self, but I'm open to suggestions. What do you think I should do ?
I got the idea from here.

Jerome, take a deep breath.
Tools I got. Skills I need.

So have I finally carved deep enough ?

What should I do with the back of
his head ?
Last, this is an odd shot.

Since there are no more takers
the free [just for the asking] door pull give away

By all means, carry on with that idea! Love it!
What kind of wood is that again? It kind of looks like palm, but also kind of doesn't.

Jerome,
You sunk the hook in me & I
just had to try one for my self.
Not nearly as smooth as yours.
They are not as EZ as you make it look.
It's just pine 1x2 but it works good.

Sorry Will, I missed it!
It work good! Wow! Glad I you try. Glad it work good... I do not see any holes on the front, on the back... How the axis is fixed?
Are you going to finish, sanded, varnished?

Cool stuff you do!

J.

Looking real fantastic! love the head dress.

Lets see an update!!

L

YES! It's time...

W

OK,
Knowing this guy will live outside & looking to protect him I painted him with 20 year latex house paint. The color was so close to the wood color you couldn't tell it was painted. Then I hit it with a brown glaze, ragged it off & stood him up.

The one on the right fell off his log a month ago.
With no treatment he turned gray, got moldy & rotted from the inside out.

Seeks, Think this guy could hang with the boys in the Bog?

Jerome,
I wasn't so concerned with how it looked as that I could make it work.
I glued the axis pin in it. That made it an EZ install but now it can't be serviced.
Also, the bullet latch is a nice touch but, if I made another one I would use a pin and corresponding holes to line it up.
Thanks for the lesson.

Wow, that looks really neat with him way up high keeping an eye on things. Your guardian tiki. Great job. GROG like.

Well done! Love how high this guy get up there. He would look great @ the Tiki Bog.

Somebody got something BIG!

4

Bigger is better! What kind of wood is it?

L

Easier method of loading ... I wish I had this for my big walnut log...

J.

B

Cool, Now you have the BIG Log, GET TO WORK!!!!

BIG things to come!

Gorgeous stuff.

He's been busy but slacking on the updates!! Come on - show what you got!!!

He has a log pile with some nice pieces of palm. The new log makes them look like toothpicks.

W

Thank you all for your encouragement.
That log is a monster. 16 ft tall & 18 in trunk.
cabbage palm, almost no bark at the bottom.
I'm going to have to come up with something good for that.

Maybe I should show this in beyond tiki.
This is a good case of why I should have a picture
and a clear idea of what I'm carving and not let
my hands & tools go where they want.I think my
ancients are really young & they just mess with me.

These masks are for Christie,
for her party this summer.
I need to finish all 3 of these, but they need to dry out more first.

I think its a good case for why you SHOULD NOT have a picture or clear idea of what you are carving!

PS - what you can't see is that the lizards each have their own set of shell eyes!

More evidence of society in decline... I took the tiki Will donated and placed it in a remote area in a local park. It was nicely placed at a hairpin turn on my local mountain bike trail in Quiet Waters Park. It has watched over riders for a couple of years. I rode Sunday and to my surprise the tiki was gone. IT APPEARS TO BE STOLEN! This tiki was broken and had to be screwed to a 4x4 with 3 large lag bolts. The scumbags broke the post off at the bottom and carried the tiki away - not an easy task. Keep your eyes open for this wayward tiki (PS the legs are broken).

P

people are just shit.

I had a big one stolen right out of my front yard about 6 months ago.

:( :x :( Very Bad Karma....headed somebody's way........Very Bad.

T

Outstanding. Great use of the shells. You can just barely see the shells in the lizard eyes in the pic on the right. Nice.

Tom & I went to a carving show in Stewart Sunday & the only tiki there was hanging on Benzarts neck. Every one there was sure interested to see it. We then went to his shop for a sharpening lesson & big fun was had by all.

Here at Tiki Central we live in an international community.
It's funny how things can get lost in the translation.
This has been brought to my attention.
In an effort not to offend or amuse any one here,
I will post under a new screen name.
Look for me posting as "Will carve".
This is simple.
My name is Will & I carve.
Hard to misconstrue.

Username Changes

We no longer change usernames due to the heavy amount of requests and the complexity required. Until we automate the process, you're stuck with the username you have. Sorry.

Looks like I'm stuck here.
I thought I could open a new profile.
I can't with my same email addy.

C

Wow...great new carve Will Carve.
Looking forward to more of this one as it progresses, a lot of
nice touches, the fella nesting in the headdress, the shell eyes,
the nose thingy, many great things going on. Nice picture of
Ben too.

An update is over due. Wait till you see what he's got goin'.

P

B

OK, How long do we have to wait Will Carve, or is it Won't carve. ??
:o :P

I'm trying to figure out how your name could be taken wrong?
We speak American English on this site. If something translates badly, they can just get over it.
