Four!!! FOUR days left!!!!

Here's what I've got so far. Its gonna be hard for me to finish this by the Monday (many things going on) - but I do promise to finish it soon after if you let me swap?? Two scraps of wood transformed into a tiki-ish bird. Mahogany body and tail with Walnut wings - approx 11" long.

I saw AlohaStation's name in the "Other Craft" sections - my heart skipped a beat as I thought "Could he be posting something in the Bird Swap?" SHURE 'NUF!!! Look great Tom!

Well, well, well...welcome to the swap Mr. AlohaStation!!

Now here's the tricky one - where's Mango?!!?

Here's the perfect video to celebrate 4 days left to the end of the Swap. It features 2 Birds of the Pacific; the Vanatu Jungle Fowl and the Erect Crested Penguin of New Zealand (besides, Fiest is HOT!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ9WiuJPnNA

I'm so happy to announce, "I'm finished". However I don't have a name for the painting. Any suggestions?

I thought Playing Hooky
Dan thought Hawaiian Omelet

and you suggest...

Nice work Wendy!

WaikikianMoeKele, what a tease!!! I'm excited to see what comes of this.

Wendy, absolutely beautiful!!! How about "Say Ahhh" I can't seem to find a decent online Hawaiaan Dictionary but Egg Protector or Egg Guardian would be good

Great work everyone! Ahh I can't wait to see how this thing finishes up!

Z

Howzabout, 'hawaiian omelet'?
:D

This has gotta make it in!

A bird feeder! A brilliant take on the theme! :) ...or is it something else?

Sorry, Bongo, it's not a bird feeder. :)
But here's another progress pic...

These are good, or how about, "Birdie Loves Tiki". I really like the way the painting begs the viewer to create a story behind it.

Today's video, Three Little Birds. Only 3 days left for the Bird Swap!

(I apologize for bringing Bob Marley and Reggea to the tiki party but it is the obvious choice for 3 and birds. Besides, this song has helped me through some very rough times :) )

Here's my entry. Go easy on me, I'm not a professional. Heavy inspiration from the WITCO piece found in TIKI MODERN, (page 175).

I think this is a very nice piece! Well done!

Threeeeeee days!!! Muwahahahaha!!!!
Loving the Mid century mod, Bongo... really striking in its simplicity. Bravo!

Bongo, I like it, a really fun piece.

I hope that photos of the art will line up showing who traded with who, that was so fun to see last time. I'm looking forward to seeing who gets TikiG's Hawaiian bird!

I have to re-do my mint (it's too dark), but then I'll be done. Pics later today.

All of the entries are lovely- I'm excited.

Nice Bongo, very true to it's inspiration.

Thanks for the kudos.

Ready for Swappin!

Very cool Amy, even has a custom BotP swizzle!!!

The swizzle and the straw are removable.

Love it, Amy! That's one mug that shouldn't break!

Ok, I guess I got a little carried away with this "Birds of the Pacific" theme (10 pieces) :D But I had a great time, thanks for your support and indulgence.

My swap partner will get their choice from my projects, hopefully they will find something they like. I have listed them in MY order of preference :)

My two favorites are the 2 whimsical hornbill mugs.

11L x 5W x 8T, about 18 ounces

6L x 4W x 7T, about 18 ounces. No straw needed - just suck on the beak!

My next 2 favorites are the Solomon Islands Hornbill Feast Bowl and the "Monday Morning in Baining" painting

13L x 8W x 7T with faux shell inlay

Watercolor and pen. Painting 11 x 11, overall 14 x 14 x 1 1/2

Next, I liked the Frogmouth Candy Dish and the PNG Birdhead Club

6W x 7L x 3T

10 x 21 inches, Indian Laurel wood with inlayed shell eyes.

The Sepik River Fighting Horn turned out good, but it ranks low on my list because I'm a functional kind of guy and this piece has no function other than a noisemaker

10 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter.

And the last few were really just for my entertainment

Hornbill Skull & Boars Tusks pendant. 2x2x6 skull, polymer clay

2 Honeycreepers made from dove decoys and polymer clay

8 x 8 PNG inspired ceramic wall hanging

Mike! now we know why we don't see much of you lately!
Nice work!

Dang Mike!
Way to show off!
Wendy, your piece is haunting and beautiful!
With that background forest...
Rosseau would be envious!
Bummed i couldn't participate this time
due to a 20-year Exhibition,
but hey!
that's as great an excuse as any!
Hopefully, i'll be on board for the next one...
Great work all!

Here is my official submission:

"Lorrikeet", 8" x 10", acrylic on stretched canvas

BONUS:
Abstract "Birds of Paradise", 12" X 16" 3D-acrylic on canvas board:

I apologize for the exposure on both, but the pictures do not do these pieces justice!

Can't wait for the name drawing!

B

Here's mine. :) yay!

same here Im swamped with commissions and show deadlines. as much as i watedx to partcipate I dont think I can get a piece done by tomorow. well maybe whats the time cut off?

Aloha - Is it time? Walking down the judging ramp, all of a sudden the model stops - winks...then throws you this...

  • My swapping partner will receive both paintings in one package - two birds w/one stone :)

As for the various pieces, I love what I've see so far. Lots of wow! unbelievable! shock and wonder!

I can't wait for the name draws. G

And so I'm thinkin', "What great variety in this swap!", and then TikiG submits two more tropical birds! Wow!

Eight great works of art so far, who is missing?

Kenny, thank you so much. That made it all worthwhile.
MadDogMike, unbelievable, I barely could get mine done in time.
TikiG Dan's never going to stop laughing.
Amybean, I wish I knew how to get prints onto cloth, or is it still paper?
ZeroTiki the depth on the head piece is so good.
Zerostreet, that is one sweet bird.
Clever with the bird of paradise, see I can't remember how to spell your name. I love Lorakeets, we were just with them yesterday, they ate Dan's new straw hat but it was worth it.
