Please put me on the list as well. I'm working on a painting this week that will make my swap-trader happy!!!.....?????.....hope it ends up presented to a overseas stranger, soon to be an dear TC acquaintance.

Somebody living in PNG..Please sign up and trade!

i was just gonna shrink me head and send that...

::jumping up and down with hand raised::
Oooh, ooh!! I wanna play, too!!

PNG style, how can I refuse? Conga is in.

You have all been added to the list :D

Please remember that pictures of your finished piece of art need to be posted here by the due date (end of June - so June 30th I assume) for your name to go into the hat to be drawn out for a swapping partner - that way we know you have something to swap and your partner isn't left hanging!

We will see who can make the deadline. This should be pretty cool.

For a long time I am fascinated by the figures Yipwan, the opportunity is too good, that is what I will carve in wood for this tiki art swap 2009.

Some pics from museum and gallery for inspiration:

See you in late june! :D :D :D

Here is my offering. A big mug that needs a straw. Three different
ancestor boards with three unhappy victims. My inspiration is our
awesome Tobunga-PNG skateboard and designs borrowed from Jane's Oceania
pages and my tribal art book. So much fun! MP

The best part about PNG is it would be hard to mess it up. The crazier the better I bet.

I see some people are allowing sneak peaks of their projects :)

Here's my PNG painting contribution that I started earlier. I worked on it a little last night as I watched FRINGE.

Head dress, background, beading and further shading to face are my painting goals for this week. Hope you dig!

You're in! :D

Here's a rough sculpt on my Baining Fire Dance mug

Edit - I think I'll make a matching pendant. I'll use it as a "test tile" to try out some new underglaze pens. If it works out, it will go with the mug. If I can't put out quality at least I can do quantity

I'm gonna sit right here, I'm gonna watch the sun

Almost done. 4+" pendant carved in Walnut. Just needs to be finished.

BT

Looking good everyone.

I carved on mine a bit yesterday, but I had gotten carried away with my saw blade making 'pre cuts'. When I shaved away the excess I wasn't left with much.

So I think I'm gonna try another one. Need the practice anyway.

progress shot .........teaser

Sneaky peaky mister Tiki!

Just the basic layer, obviously

you guys ARE quick...

Will start working o my piece only next Tuesday or Thursday. My sketch was too small to carve with the tools at the ceramics studio I go to.

Wow, that is really cool looking. In a funny way, it also reminds me of Spy vs. Spy in Mad magazine.

C

Aloha, Ok I am gonna get off my lazy okole and commit to this Artswap too. You can thank (or tar and feather) LLT for putting some twists on the thumbscrews and getting me to join in. Also, after looking at some of the pics of the awesome pieces in progress I was even more inspired to get in on this this. Stoked!

Sure you can paint the whole painting in one night but it takes a week to post. Well, June is still a long ways away so.

The deadline is the END OF JUNE. This gives plenty of time to get your artwork done! As Ive said, please post your progress pics and finished pics in this thread - to get everyone excited about what art is being created! At the end of June, I'll draw up a list of everyone who has posted a COMPLETED piece, and I'll people know who's swapping with who.

When I read this it seems that you can join as late as the end of June as long as you post your finished piece because after everyone has done so THEN the names would be matched up.

SO anyone can join at anytime as long as that guideline is followed.

I may take part in this because I love to paint..and have already started on a piece...BUT if the piece comes out looking like crapola I am dropping out :)

So put me on the "maybe" list to be determined by end of June!

Chongolio and Ravenne you have been added to the list :D (LIST IS ON PAGE THREE OF THIS THREAD)

Just to be sure - there is no cut off date to join the swap, just say that you are interested in joining and I'll add you to the list.. There is, however, a cut off date to post photos of your finished piece - JUNE 30.. You need to post photos of your finished piece by this date so we know you have something to swap.

Loving all of the progress pics!

RH

Throw my name into the hat.

I have to use an existing piece 'cause I'm booked for the next six or eight weeks - I hope a small pastel is okay. If it isn't I'll cry.

It is atmospheric, looks better in person, and includes a PNG-style frame
