How big a piece to you need?

I used to have an Oceanic Arts catalog and I think they sell it. In Portland, the Mill End Store on McLoughlin Blvd. might have it.
Good luck.

You can find a bunch on eBay, too -- do a search on "tapa cloth" (with one p). Good luck!

I love you guys

Depends on how "fast". Here is my Ebay search for tapa. Weeds out some of the crap for you:

tapa -(minyak, shorts, trunks, dress, shirt, diego, cigar, towel, pabst, turtle, mug)

Robert,

If one of those don't pan out I also contacted one of my suppliers who makes Tappa Cloth and gave your exact measurements to them to see if they can do it and how long it will take. :)

I'll post again or call when I hear back from them.

Updated:

tapa -(socks,oil,minyak, shorts, trunks, dress, shirt, diego, cigar, towel, pabst, turtle, mug)

There is always new crap to weed out it seems. Unless you needed penis enlarging oil in your tapa search...

Fijian or Tongan?

or Kapa, from Hawaii?

or Jawaiian from Jamaica and Hawaii??
Hmmmm...

Maybe, Tappa comes from the states now???

I.m getting confused!!!

Bark Cloth?? ( fabric??)

Here we go around the Mullberry Tree.....

Speaking of weeding things out on Ebay....

Does anyone else out here want to bitch-slap Tiki Barber??

I COMPLETELY AGREE!

I used to start out using the ebay "Advanced Search" and the "Exclude these Words" feature....this is what that came out looking like:

Barber, BarberTopps, New York Giants, Football, Sticker, Stickers, African, Africa, Bali, Neon, Beer, Pub, Scooby Doo, Sign, Signs, Swim Suit, Bikini, Party Favor, Party Favors, Mexico, Kids, Metallica, Christmas, Goosebumps, Sweatshirt, Aquarium, Jeans, Pants, Pelican, Polo, Barbie, Electric

at that point I discovered that I MAXED OUT the number of words I could EXCLUDE.....it did reduce the original search word of TIKI from 3713 listings to 2036! :o

Honestly, it's a lot easier to put in EXACTLY what you're looking for, ie, TIKI MUG, VINTAGE TIKI MUG, HAWAIIAN SHIRT XL and so on! :)

As to the TAPA CLOTH, here's what my current supplier in West Samoa wrote back:

"Hi: Too bad you don't know someone in Tonga as they are the champion big tapa makers. Unfortunately, there were riots in Tonga a couple of weeks ago and they burnt down 80% of the downtown of the main town so they probably still have no phones or power!!
anyways, they don't make big tapa here. The biggest is about 18 squares, average 70" x 50", and because they make them all slightly different in size, even if I could get together several of those larger samoan tapas here at this time of the year, it would probably be a pain for the bar owner to try to piece them together so they look OK. Probably the better way to go would be the approx. 14" x 14" tapa squares and then they could just be staple-gunned or glued up on a wall. So say 42" high would be 3 squares high and 32 feet long would be about 27 squares wide for a total of about 80 squares. And I could probably pick up that many squares in the market right now (like 'quickly' I mean) but around and after christmas production around samoa pretty much slows down to a trickle until near the end of Jan. There are getting to be a huge amount of overseas samoans visiting here now and they will clean out the markets before they leave.
so you can get back to me on that if you are interested.
Fa'afetai lava, Mari"

I always love it when people protest by burning down their own town. It's like throwing a temper tantrum because you're out of beer and setting fire to the fridge.

You mean you don't do that? 'Cause whenever I get mad at my wife I go trash my own stuff to get back at her. That makes sense, right?

Yes it does, especially if there's some chance of getting a divorce - if you trash your stuff, she can't get it in the settlement! HAHAH!

I like equilter.com for bark cloth, oilcloth, Asian (I love Kona Bay!), batiks, & retro home dec fabrics...
