Great story about Joey DeFrancesco.

I was at the NAMM show a few years back, and Mr. D was at the Hammond booth, doing what he normally does-amaze the hell out of people. I causually asked him if he would ever do a "lounge" album, and he goes, "you mean like this?" and started playing the songs from the Ultra lounge "organs in orbit" album-I was flabbergasted! He knew them all!

Cool story Lucas. Was just listening to Organic Vibes this morning!

This evening...

Tim-Tayshun - Jo Stafford 1947

I love these guys...probably my favourite rock 'n' roll band at the moment.

I'll play too...a short stint in the workshop today, which consisted of:
Black Sabbath: Masters of Reality
Kyuss: Blues for the Red Sun
and, some of the previously mentioned Groundation while working inside.

Right now all Christmas tunes.
Ultra-Lounge Christmas Cocktails (all 3)
Rat Pack Chistmas
Bing Crosby
Mitch Miller and the Gang
Johnny Mathis
Frank Sinatra
Andy Williams

This is fun...sort of a mixed bag while carving this morning....The Sonics (The
60s Louie Louie band)....Mickey Hart with Kodo...and for a little variety...
John Coltrane "A Love Supreme."

Beating back the steamy green hell here to re-build 'Son-of-Cosmic-Tiki-Hut' by Spring '09, I'm keeping the local wildlife at bay listening to:

Les Baxter's "Bora Bora" soundtrack
"Raiders of the Lost Ark" soundtrack - J.Williams
"Jurassic Park" and "The Lost World" (custom medley) - J. Williams
The Martini Kings' "Dance of the Virgins"
"Jonny Quest" main titles theme (extended jazz instrumental, no snd fx)
"Treasure Island" soundtrack - Clifton Parker
Hearts of Space "Gamelan" (classic broadcast)
"CutThroat Island" soundtrack - J.Debney
Gene Rains' "Call of the Tropics"
Select H.Mancini cues from "CFTBL"
Select J.N.Howard cues from "Atlantis""Mysterious Island" soundtrack - B.Herrmann
National Geographic theme - E.Bernstein
"You Only Live Twice" soundtrack - J.Barry
& custom Gamelan mix

Epic cloudscapes by day, and lighting the tiki-torches to keep working after dark, the very air reeks of adventure (and citronella)... Oooo...

Oh fine.

Everybody ELSE can post their playlist titles..., and MY music is so WEIRD it kills the thread...?

Well, fine. Go ahead and listen to Bingo and the Dinglefaries, or whomever. But before you judge too harshly, or not at all, just give David Newman's "Must Be The Humidity" (The Phantom #7) a chance to stir some lethal romance into the sunset, and then give "Hammond's Plan" (The Lost World #8) a crafty spin, and chase that with a breathless jolt of Williams' exquisite "The Raptors Appear" (Lost World #9), and then see if you ever want to set foot in civilization again.

Chase that through the twilight with Michel Legrand's "Lost Continent" ("Continent Perdu") and then bring on some real Javanese Gamelan, and then get immersed in "Percussions Polynesiennes", and embellish that with some rum and citronella, and then take a happy detour with Hal Aloma until the pig's eaten and the ladies are abed and drill down on "Alternesia"...

...and THEN tell me that Pootie and the Nosebleeds, or whomever, will EVER do again. Ha. And they say I'm weird... Hahahahahahah....

Well, okay, it's a fair cup --

W

SOK, how can you hear your music above that loud whining noise?

Probably cuz I didn't have iTunes til last year I completely ignored this thread. Now it looks like the perfect meaningless time waster/life killer.

In an I'm-not-sure-what mood this morning I hit SHUFFLE for the whole library. For no good reason here's the first eleven randomly selected cuts:

A Strange Kind of Love.....Peter Murphy
Boomtown.....Toby Keith
I Wonder Where You Are Tonight.....Dolly Parton
Twee.....Tullycraft
What's This Thing Called Love?.....The Spurs
Teeny Weeny.....Jimmy Hart
Story Of You.....Jimmie Dale Gilmore
Then She Kissed me.....The Derailers
Maria Elena.....Tony Pastor and His Orchestra
Getting Into The Jam.....Electric Six
Heartbreak Hotel......Willie Nelson

Alas, Woofie, you fail to distinguish between a Mowgli-esque howl of inspired passion, and a mere common whine, no doubt due to twang damage from listening to Dolly Parton. Back to your iPud now, with my condolences. You won't find the kind of soul-igniting, time-warping, jungle-stirring depth and scope of musical majesty in any casually-crammed, popular-veneer collection of downloads, may the Monkey Gods of Lost Fabulabula have mercy upon you.

Though I have to admit Willie's pretty good.

Did Toby Keith really remake the David + David song?

I am down with Peter Murphy and Willie, just not in the same shuffle.

Todays shuffle was Peter Murphy, Cyberactif, Thill Kill Kult/KMFDM mix, White Zombie, Test Dept. & Tom Waits, from what I can remember.

W

So yuh just bought some beer and wanna chill it down real fast? Give it to SOK to hold in his arms...He's SUPERCOOL!!

Nobody's Angel.....Nanci Griffith
Unlock The Door!.....The Little Ones
Hull Breach Reef.....The Verb
Oakie Boogie.....Jack Guthrie And His Oklahomans
Moon's Rock.....Moon Mullican
All These Things.....Joe Stampley
Meter Maid.....Pep Torres
I'm All Behind You Now.....George Strait
Hannah....Little Jimmy Dickens
Nothing's Changed Here.....Dwight Yoakam
God Is A Real Estate Developer......Michelle Shocked

"SuperCool"? Thanks, man, but I'm only this cool --

Lalo Schifrin - Jim On The Move (Mission Impossible)
David Shire - "The Taking of Pelham 123" (main titles)
Morton Stevens - "The Chase" (Hawaii 5-0 series)
Howard Shore - Quick Change (custom lift)
John Carpenter - Pork Chop Express (Big Trouble ILC)
John Barry - The Persuaders (main titles)
Earl Hagen - I Spy (main titles)
Ron Granier - The Prisoner (main titles)
Laurie Johnson - The Avengers (THE original main titles)
John Barry - Fight at Kobe Dock (You Only Live Twice)
Michel Legrand - The Crevasse (Ice Station Zebra)
Jerry Goldsmith - You're A Foolish Man, Mr. Flint (Our Man Flint)
Henry Mancini - Far East Blues (Peter Gunn II)

More stuff in the freezer, if you're curious. :D
