It's pretty simple why the kids like rap - they think it's badass, and listening to it will make them look badass, which will enturn entice the young teenaged ladies who find badassery a turn-on. It all comes down to sex. In fact, I don't think there's a question in theis world that can't be boiled down to sex in the end!
