Tiki Mick,
I liked pretty much the same bands, but would also add on:
New Order
The Cure
Depeche Mode
Japan
Propaganda
Art of Noise
Eurythmics
Haircut 100
Heaven 17
Gary Numan
Tears For Fears
Thompson Twins
Yaz

I didn't get to see Ultravox, but did see a double headliner show at the Universal Amphitheatre in'85 with Howard Jones and Midge Ure.

Started off liking everything from 60s pop, 70s Disco, trad. rock (Like Queen and Pat Benatar), then somehow onto New Wave. Friends of mine in the mid 80s were starting to collect lounge and exotica so started listening to that as well as other periods of music (20s, 30s jazz, 40s swing). (One friend even became friends with Esquivel before he died.) Also got into some ambient/prog/world stuff through way of Japan's lead singer who went solo and recorded with the likes of Robert Fripp. Still enjoy electronic music and newer bands that are influenced by 60s dance music. I'm sure I've left out something though.

Oh, and I DO especially love Mancini and any Peter Sellers movie. Both were geniuses in my opinion.
