My mom was teaching in Whittier after having just graduated from Whittier College in 1957. She took her roommate to the Leilani to introdce her to Hawaiian music and she met my dad bartending there. If it weren't for that, they would have never met and my sister and I wouldn't be here. Richard is buried in Honolulu Memorial Park behind Diamond Head where many of my mom's relatives are buried.
