"Along the Sepik River"

This painting was an opportunity to Play with jungle lighting and a graphic solution to the transparency of water mostly..Creating a narrative that doesn't overpower the atmosphere..... It was a no question that those birds and crocs that have inhabited these PNG Tiki paintings for awhile would turn up,as well as some characters based on actual carvings from the countless cultures that reside along the island's infamous Sepik River.... The fellow on the right was inspired by a Malu-Sambun carved board located in the East Sepik area...
