The slow-down in enthusiasm isn't due to Sven's book not being at Target for $11.95, most of the original TC crowd were here WAY before Sven's book was on sale. Read the book; it's about people who were already collecting and exploring Ancient Tiki Culture.

I think it's simply because less people are around now who experienced the original Tiki culture in some way. I listened to lounge music on the radio when I was a kid, my parents actually had Tiki mugs, etc. A lot of today's fans are getting it second or third hand, and that's cool but it's SO different.

BUT, man, I dig that Retro, Hot Rod, Low-brow, Inked-Up Ratnick Burlesque crowd! Who cares if they paint a Tiki on their '55 Ford Customline? I like the flames! Ed Roth was a God to me as a kid, and those girls are hotter than a Three On The Tree V8 after a trip to Fresno!
