I would not be surprised if the supervisors approve the staff recommendation, which would enable the owners to demolish.
However, the local supervisor, David Chiu, also has to carve out an exception to enable the hotel to convert rooms to condos, as the city policy allowing some hotel rooms to convert to condos expired last fall.

The owners are playing hardball by threatening to sell the hotel and by actively targeting supervisor David Chiu with glossy fliers aimed at his voters.

Unfortunately, both of the other Nob Hill hotels are up for sale, too.
