Just bought these guys - 3 totems, 20in - 25in high.
Actual (splintery) palm.
Got them for $20 each from a couple in Atlanta.

The top has some pitting.

tl/dr -
First Questions:
*Any way to get rid of the green paint highlights? Burn in the shadows?
*How can I make them less viciously splintery. They are palm, and every time I move them I get splinters.
Will coating them with stain and spar urethane help with that? (I think these are going to live outside)

Second Questions:
*Anyone know (or know of) Grover Rice?
*Anyone know anything about Grover's Gallery, or anyone local able to go get pictures?
*Think these came from there, or are these just random tourist tikis that could be from anywhere?

The facts:
They were bought by someone's aunt in St. Augustine, Florida at "a little shop downtown".
They have green painted highlights, and the bottoms seem to have been dipped in plaster for leveling and protection purposes.

That made me curious. Some Googling turned up this image via flickr
That guy on the left looks pretty similar, as does the use of green paint to highlight.
