Gosh, thank you for all the wonderful messages. It's time for an update. I fired for 12.5 hours. I left the areovent running to help with the cool down but it still took 25 hours for it to get to 125 degrees so I could open the lid. I had also put into the kiln 50 glaze test (L shaped) strips. I unloaded them and both mugs and strips were fine.

Because I had put dusty strips on them I had to use the air compressor to blow off the dust again. See that frown, that's why I usually have tape between my eyebrows when I work. It reminds me to not frown.

The next step was to read the instructions for the respirator. Wax Resist calls for a respirator rather than a mask.

Not a fun thing to wear!

I was able to paint all of the mugs bottom rims. Near the end I did paint one top in error. I scrapped off the wax and then sanded until I was down to clean bisqued clay again.

All 50 done. Glazing starts tomorrow!

Now Dan and I are taking mom to the zoo. Cheers, Wendy
