So this represents Western civilization raping and pillaging artifacts from primitive cultures? I can see that.

I'm no deep thinker. I hated when we had to do a socio-political piece in ceramics class, I could have used the time and the 3 bucks worth of clay to make a mediocre Tiki mug. The "Piss Christ" doesn't provoke any deep thought in my head other than "I can't believe they made such a fuss over this" Throwing a bucketful of paint on a canvas may relieve someone's frustration, but I don't feel it can convey to the viewer the feeling of angst over the inequities of those who feel persecuted because they don't like maple syrup. I don't buy into one word poetry. I think it's no coincidence that the rise in abstract art corresponds with the availability of mind altering drugs. :)

Please don't take this as a personal attack on artists and I love most of the artwork posted on TC. I just know I'm too left-brained to ever be much of an artist or to even fully appreciate anything other than decorative art.

EDIT - I don't think rap music is art either

We can live beside the ocean
Leave the fire behind
Swim out past the breakers
And watch the world die.
