  1. The Blue Room is definitely in Burbank.
  2. Larry's Hot Dogs? I must try. But is this different than the Papoose place?
  3. Burbank is cool because it's in the Valley. Why is the Valley cool? Because it doesn't try to be. Also lots of places left over from the 1940's and 1950's.
  4. Ok, the Valley is actually hot but it's a dry heat right?
  5. Dude, I live 4 blocks from the beach in SaMo but I think I appreciate your "hood" more that you. :) The beach is very overrated.
  6. Why go to Hollywood? For the following: American Cinematheque (Egyptian Theater), Musso & Frank, Boardner's (even after the remodel), Yamashiro, Frolic Room, Skooby's Hot Dogs. A little further East you have Jumbo's Clown Room and late night Thai food.
  7. I just don't get Damon's. Why is it so popular? I only know the new location so I'm assuming its riding on its old reputation.
  8. I hate the OC, especially since they closed Movieland Wax Museum. The only place interesting there is Little Saigon. I used to like Disneyland until they shut down the original Submarine Voyage and that ride where they would shrink you. All of my best childhood memories destroyed. :(

  1. The Blue Room is definitely in Burbank. - I stand corrected. I used to own an awesome Mid Century Modern condo in the Glendale side of the Equestrian neighborhood on Riverside Dr, so that was in my hood. That Equestrian neighborhood is my absolute favorite part of the valley.

  2. Larry's Hot Dogs? I must try. But is this different than the Papoose place? - Yes, different place, It's on Burbank Blvd a few blocks east of Hollywood Way. Papoo's is a little expensive for a hot dog/burger joint.

  3. Burbank is cool because it's in the Valley. Why is the Valley cool? Because it doesn't try to be. Also lots of places left over from the 1940's and 1950's. - True Dat. Burbank embraces it Mid Century leftovers. North Hollywood tries badly to be cool (NoHo- HA!)

  4. Ok, the Valley is actually hot but it's a dry heat right? - When it's 100 degrees.....it don't matter. You gotta use your ac all day.

  5. Dude, I live 4 blocks from the beach in SaMo but I think I appreciate your "hood" more that you. :) The beach is very overrated. - You're lucky, The grass is always greener I guess... wanna trade ?

- I loved Hollywood when I moved there in 95'. It was a little seedy and broken down. Some of the old Mid Century places were still there...There were no Theme park Shopping Malls. You could just go to the farmers Market, park your car and go in .... now ? Fuhgettaboutit ! Traffic is OUTTA control.
And then there are the beardo/hipsters on the east side....you can have em'

  7. I just don't get Damon's. Why is it so popular? I only know the new location so I'm assuming its riding on its old reputation. - Damon's has a good steaks, great decor, and holds the distinction of having the world's worst Mai Tai. Their Sunday Brunch is great, and the place is pretty true to it's origins. It's an LA Tiki joint with almost no tikis, but it's still great.

  8. I hate the OC, especially since they closed Movieland Wax Museum. The only place interesting there is Little Saigon. I used to like Disneyland until they shut down the original Submarine Voyage and that ride where they would shrink you. All of my best childhood memories destroyed. :( - Sorry to hear. I just like the beach areas. I'm a pisces, I need to be near the ocean.

All that being said, I love Burbank, but I never lived near the beach, and I just want to....Burbank is my fave place in the valley, no doubt. The other good thing about it...It has an airport that is really easy to deal with.
