That red clay is what I grew up with. Living just south of Georgia made that stuff plentiful and CHEAP! They used to use it to "pave" the roads - till someone noticed it was turning the bays red. If it flooded in GA the runoff would eventually make it to the Gulf turning it from crystal clear to a muddy red. I have to say it sure does make nice ceramics - strong too!! |
