I don't know the official name of this stuff, but have been collecting it for years. It goes well with tiki decor. Objects made of abalone or paua shell imbedded in clear lucite. A perfect marriage of my fascination with iridescence, and my inexplicable compulsion to laminate things.

I have a seahorse like this, about 15 inches tall, that I got at a thrift store for a buck last year. It is not in my tiki room, though, I decided it was better in my 'mermaid bathroom'.

Wait, doesn't everyone have a tiki room and a mermaid bathroom in their home...?

Other collections...
In addition to Tiki, until recently, I collected 1970's Sci-Fi toys, mostly Micronauts and Star Wars, but I have become so disgusted with how bad the new SW movies are that I have majorly started to lose interest.

I collect 1940s/1950's home decor of all sorts (as I imagine a lot of TC does), a lot of Chinese-inspired stuff, which is starting to fill up the room next to my tiki room. Also, I have a library of thousands of books, movies, CDs and and records, new and old (please - no jokes about those thousands of books being unsold copies of TRT! :) )

I used to collect pin-up art, but in the past 5 years there have been many excellent books published that reprint so many great images in such high quality that I am no longer inspired to collect the expensive orignial items. But I do have an original work of art by Earl MacPhearson and one by Greg Hildebrandt. Mostly I only buy original works of art at this point, when I can afford to (pin up or otherwise), rather than prints, posters, blotters, calendars... whatever.

Oh, and Noggins, of course!
