Thanks Squid - its amazing what you can do with Duct Tape and chewing gum.
Bead - sorry, most of my relatives are rednecks and that makes reunions "magical".

Here's an update. Still looking for someone to give him a good home. Just needs Stain (optional) and Urethane!
