First of all, there was NO GIFT SHOP at the Mai-Kai in the 1960's.
All they had back in 1967 were flower leis, fake and real, for about $3.50 (?) as my memory re-calls.
The only souvenirs i remember were those long post cards, (free) match books or those little match boxes (free) and your place mats (take 'em home) ...
I got to take home my Pine-Apple and i did, and i have a photo of me with it the day after... it lasted a long time with proper re-frigeration.

Also, i will let you in on an insider secret..... that the Mai-Kai is doing just "so-so" business... i know that alot of you will find that insulting and go on a defensive spree, but you had better appreciate them and patronize them all you can.

Hopefully they will go on for some time...
