Howland your place is awesome! How tall are your stools & where did you get them. What did you use for the bartop? Oh, and where does one go to procure a machete? With my coordination, you may end up calling me lefty when I'm done. Everyone else, thanks for the advice & keep it coming. I'm gonna need all the help I can get. When it comes to wrenches & cars, I'm pretty adept, but saws & hammers, I'm dangerous.
Spikey: Welcome aboard, & I admire your enthusiasm, but I fail to see how your post answers any of my questions.

Thanx, man. My barstools are standard size (36"?) and I actually got them from a neighbor who is moving to Costa Rica and couldn't take them. For the bar top: I used 2 layers of 3/4" MDF (medium density fiberboard) from Slowe's, glued together. Painted it dark brown then I laid out printouts of old matchbooks, menu covers, other ephemera and used a 2 part resin specifically designed for bar tops--this stuff: http://www.michaels.com/art/online/displayProductPage?productNum=gc0511. It took a gallon kit to do mine. It's about 11 feet by 2 feet.

Glad to help.
