The design that he went with was the best of the three I thought. It did have the fountain, and the nice fire effect at night. The bar from the third design did look a whole lot more promising, particularly becuase it was fully enclosed, and had a sink and a fridge. I mean, the surfboard was OK, but if the outdoor bar is going to be the sole tiki bar in the house, its got to be ready to WORK!

I agree- if Doug is serious about tiki, the bar will look better with time, organically. I look back now on old pix of the Foggy Grotto, and it really looks pathetic. Kind of makes you shudder.

Doug- are you out there? It looks like his place is in the southland.

You know, Doug was kind of an enigmatic character. He's kind of the first tiki enthusiast I've seen who looked like a death metal zombie. I kept expecting him to look at the designers and say, "BRAINSSSS!" and start chewing on their heads.

Anyway, anyone willing to drop that much coin to do that to the back yard must be alright. Doug! We want a pool party! We'll bring the drinks!
