Even if they did: It is fine and understandable to WISH for today's Tiki establishments to carry Tiki mugs, or to play Exotica music, even make subtle suggestions to do so. And it is good to watch for signs of "devolution" that hint at future downsizing.

But where is the humility and gratitude that such a place still exists at all? To COMPLAIN and DEMAND this, with the assumption that the Tiki revival community has any more than a drop-on-a-hot-stone impact economically on these places is deluding oneself. I know that the Hukilau and the Tiki fans certainly have an inspirational effect on the Mai Kai's staff and owners, but to come along with what smacks of an attitude of telling them how to do their business is a little removed
from reality.

Unless the gripy lamenters have the means to make the boat come faster, or are willing to pony up bucks to get all those precious ceramic vessels there by your next visit, OR CAN RESTOCK THE GIFT SHOP WITH EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO SEE, please sit your rear down and deal.

Ok killers...RELAX! I don't think anybody is suggesting that they conduct their business differently simply because we, the polynesian pop loving minority, 'demand' it. All of us here that are huge fans of the Mai Kai are used to seeing certain things when we visit. One of those things happens to be their Tiki mugs, either in the gift shop or in the lounge or dining area. When something that specific is missing, the eyebrows are gonna raise and questions are going to be asked. Especially in the time we live in, which as we all very well know isn't exactly friendly to establishments like this. Are we lucky that such a place as the Mai Kai still exists? Yeah, totally. But when one of their signature elements is missing, people, or more specifically...I'M going to wonder if this is the sign of possible changes to come. That's all that's being said here. So far it doesn't look like the mug situation is an indication of anything more than low inventory, but it is worth discussing. So before you demand that somebody sit their 'rear' down maybe you should just close yours. Thank you.
