HEY GROG!
Very good! You get an A-plus!
Unfortunately,this assignment was to compute
how many Huts are in the picture!
Jon-Thanks man! You're quite the Michaelangelo yourself!
I've done three murals and can't imagine how
you make it seem so effortless and professional lookin!
As for the TikiMag Show....
You should book your plane ticket NOW! because
it's gonna be a Tiki Artist Smackdown Free-for-All
and we need fresh meat for the Grinder!
Glad you like the pages so far...
Working til 1:30 last night
made my eyes go all in and out of focus!
A nice warm shower and 4.5 hours of sleep and I can't
wait to go home and take a half hour nap and get the rest of it done!
Can't believe I whipped these out so fast?
Here's the secret(besides naps)
in 10 Easy Steps!
- Find existing art you have and like...
- print out a hi-contrast greyscale onto an 8.5x11 piece of paper
- put that on a lightbox and place some 8.5x11 white cardstock over it
- turn on lightbox
- lightly sketch and revise picture in pencil on cardstock
- Use a thick Black Sharpie and capture the outlines and other areas
that require a thick line
- Get a thin black sharpie and clean it up and add the smaller details
erase your pencil marks
- smoke a ciggie and stare over the piece keeping the eyes 2 inches from the paper
- Clean up again
- finish cigarette and prepare for the next one.....
REPEAT 20 TIMES...
See?
A lot easier than painting those beautiful murals you create!
Aloha!
