MY interpretation of the Christian's Hut GOOF atop the Bali Hai. Holden had posted much earlier this year, that he was negotiating with the Bali Hai Restaurant to manufacture EXACT replica's of the ORIGINAL Mr. Bali Hai mug. (I believe a fellow TC'er even contributed one of thier own mugs for the casting?) It is also known that Tiki Farm has supplied BHR with reproduction Mr. Bali Hai signature mugs and shots from a few years ago too! That said, when the Tiki Farm/ TC Mug Contest happened... I thought WOW what a great opportunity for Holden to negotiate for a GOOF mug? I wonder what kind of drink they would serve from it? It would have to be classic to be signature for sure? What about a coffee or grog-like drink from Trader Vic's or Mai Kai? Hhhmmm...? So I thought what the heck... I'll do an entry for the contest: 1 part Trader Vic's headress coffee mug (UPLOAD IMAGE HERE)-currently unable 15:30 1 part GOOF (UPLOAD IMAGE HERE)-currently unable 15:30 AND slightly modify headress and goof facial features. (copy write issues?) (UPLOAD IMAGE HERE)-currently unable 15:30 So that's MY story, and I walked away afterwords saying "I betcha Tiki Farm already got the GOOF permissions?"..."MY entry was not the only GOOF design?"...and" the entry was probably disqualified by THE JUDGING PANEL* anyway for NOT being an ORIGINAL design?" ( * The judges ALL being REAL working/published/established ARTISTS recognized of thier own accomplishments! :) ) So regardless verbally, sketched or implied...I feel that the GOOF mug has been on the minds of anyone that has stood out in front of the Bali Hai Restaurant, looked up at the goofy snaggle toothed and one-eyed monster on the roof and said, "Hey, that ugly white bastard deserves a rummy mug just like the cannibal head at the front door...yeah! yeah! that would be cool!!!" :D Sooo three cheers to the GOOF and whatever drink fills his head! Hazzah! Hazzah! Hazzah! :drink:
