I don't want to fit in! I experienced this in the Hot Rod world. I've been into "old school" since I was in fourth grade(1973). Now stuff I was buying at swap meets for next to nothing is going for stupid money to people with deep pockets who think Boyd Coddington is an icon! Case in point: I bought a set of headlights at a swap 10-12 years ago for $40.00. I recently saw a set go for $1800.00 on ebay!!!!!
My buddies and I were buying this stuff because we appreciated it & wanted to preserve the legacy of the original Hot Rod & Kustom guys. Now, people with more cash than brains are jumping on the bandwagon, cuffing their jeans, using stupid lingo & think Von Dutch was a clothing designer.( Don't get me started on that one!)
A little appreciation is nice but if tiki becomes "hot" we're all screwed. They'll drive the price of a Tiki Leilani mug to $100.00, suck all the fun & the cool right out of tiki & then just move on to something else. Be careful! Be very careful!
