Thanks G, if I'm not having fun I don't carve. That's why I start quite a few new projects, some of which then go on the backburner. It's one way of stopping it from getting boring. Case in point, I have wanted to do something along these lines for while just to see how it would work.

Based on a dafe, a type of Solomon Islands pendant - black jade and pearl shell.

Benz, I don't know if it's quite as easy as a flick of the finger, but I'm glad I took the time to do some drawing on this one. The depth illusion is starting to work nicely now - you can even tilt it almost 45 degrees before the trick is revealed. A little bit of detailing and sanding to go and he'll be finished.
