Thanks Polynesiac, it's cool you met on of the "clones" at the Tonga Hut. He's just a placeholder for a stone piece I'll be making for llt in the New Year. I haven't forgotten about you either, and I'll be in touch shortly...

Kaha ki'i - back again! Come on brother - less posting , more carving! I've missed your super detailed little guys. I looked up miki'oi - interestingly the first 2 results were posts of yours here on TC. It's a really cool word that is much less of a mouthful than its translation.

Onwards with lil' Bumatay. I did virtually minutes of work on him yesterday - people are always stopping by so sometimes I don't get far, but I did some serious hacking to get the depth better. This guy will be a bit more "in the round" than usual to get the side profile looking right.
