granted. but it, at this moment is well applied to "tiki"... which is a microcosm of the american way we glomp onto things like this with its resultant levels of authenticity and fervor.

Perhaps the real problem is the societal mindset of the United States. Capitalization, homogenization, Industrialization and simplification = greater profits.

many in the Polynesian islands would concur more than you would expect...
