I'm lucky enough to have an ice factory just down the street from my house. Just before a party, I pick up a 50-pound bag, (the smallest they sell), of crushed ice, take it home and fill up two large ice-chests behind the bar. The crushed ice can be used as is for certain drinks, or thrown into the blender for blended drinks. Since it's already pre-crushed, it saves wear-and-tear on the blender.

If you don't have an ice factory near you, you can usually find a supermarket that displays their fish on crushed ice. That means they probably have a commercial ice-crushing machine behind the counter and, (if they're nice), can sell you any sized bag of crushed ice you desire. I've had good luck getting ice this way.
