Here's one of the things that always puzzles me about this matter. What was the magic in the air in the early 60s such that, from all appearances, the mainstream was NOT lame? Optimistic architecture, backyard luaus, fitted and attractive clothes, great music, beautiful cars, and TIKI BARS - these things were all popular!!?! Something changed, and it seems like the mainstream is forever doomed to lameness henceforth. Personally, I blame the hippies for the change. -Randy
