I understand what my Florida brethren are saying about Wai-tiki and I have voiced the same basic complaints myself, however, I have to point out it is a different experience if you go at dinner hour on a week night. At least it was when I went there about a month ago. It was quiet, people were behaving and I could enjoy the surroundings. Go on a Friday night at 11 pm.... forget it. In fact, I missed out on seeing the Vodkanauts last Friday night because I just couldn't face that scene again.

As far as Orlando people and the general area are concerned, I offer no excuses. It is an area that has mostly developed since the mid-1970's and the arrival of Disney World. It is wierd, but I like it.

Overall, I'd say I'd rather see bars make an attempt at tiki rather than ignore it completely. Other than the handful of surviving great tiki bars/restaraunts still out there, I have to say the best tiki spots
are TC members' home bars I've visited.
