suggestions for Oasis drink logistics?

Pages: 1 3 replies

Hi folks,
I've got a couple of question for you experienced Oasis hosts.

  1. Cheap dark rum:
Last year I brought a whole bunch of Myers's that I found for cheap. I havn't come across a good deal on it this year yet, so I was wondering what do you guys reccomend for decent dark jamaican type rum. Anything but Cruzan Black Strap, please. Trader Vics? Whalers? Coruba (not so cheap...).
  2. Regarding pineapple garnish, do you guys just get some canned pineapple chunks?

Some tips I can give? They're pretty obvious but:

  1. get mint and citrus from a Mexican or Middle Eastern market.
  2. Light rum - Pyrat Blanco, Cruzan or store brand (hey - it works without breaking the bank). I usually also get the "dark" store brand which is actually gold.

Thanks
Ran

Ok,
I'm answering my own question:
Myres's - Long's Drugs 1.75L for $19.99
Coruba - Hi Times 1L for $14.95 (get it while it lasts)
Gosling Black Seal - Bev Mo (I think it was around $15)
TV dark pay no more than $7.99 (Bev Mo, of course)

Oh, while it Bev Mo, pick Cruzan light for $13.99

I'm not telling how much I spent on rum, but let's just say it better last for a year!

Ran

Hey Ran, if you like Pyrat rum, I just stumbled upon a store that sells it for $10.99 (now that I've depleted my La Mesa Bev Mo supply). It's an IGA (Independent Grocers Assoc) market called Keils on the corner of Jackson Dr & Navajo Rd in San Carlos.

Thanks matey,
I still have about 3 bottles, and I can't possibly spend any more money on rum...but thanks for the tip, see you there,
Ran
